Oh, thank you for this! I'm really hoping that we'll have a chance like this, and it would be good for us to be as intentional as you were. We're planning to go home, at least to help in a camp for a week before our oldest two go off to college. Two locations of their childhood are closed to us because of war, but we should be able to get to our current home to take lots of pictures and remember all the memories. I need to ask them what would specifically be important to them, like you did.
Oh wow. I'm sorry these locations are closed, one day may they be open and restored! And also I do hope you have a chance to see some of the "old" places together.
What incredible, beautiful memories! I love getting to learn more about your and your family's earlier years here in Djibouti. What an impact you all have made in many corners of this community, while being so open to receiving the great warmth and gracious hospitality offered (which I also have experienced in abundance in my years here). And I'll be asking some follow-up questions on our next walk about some of the intriguing details you've shared in this post ;). Also, I needed to Google afartanbax, and in doing so came across this new program at the University of Minnesota: https://extension.umn.edu/family-news/postpartum-support-first-40-days
